We're famous!

Well sorta...

A few weeks ago, I attended the (re)opening of In the Loop Cafe on St. Clair West. I can't tell you how happy I am that this great space is once again open. It's so bright, warm, friendly... and there are skor bars that are like.... tha bomb.

Snap Downtown Toronto came by and snapped some lovely photos of the event....

Recognize anyone?

It's me, with the glowing Sandi, and happy as a lark Nadia.

Say hello to my little friend....

Bonjour mes amis, je m'appelle "le sock". Regardez-moi!!

My very first sock creature dude! (he's a Christmas gift). This funky little dude was inspired by the "Stupid Sock Creatures" book written by my sole mate (sole... get it?) Paul Murphy. Visit his website here: http://www.stupidcreatures.com/

Gratuitous Tongue

This is what Okee has to say about her recent dentistry...

She's doing purrfectly!

Wednesday, December 12, 2007

meOW!

(please note: this is *not* my cat)

meOW with an emphasis on the "Ow"! Poor Okee is in the middle of having some kitty dentistry, and I just got the call I didn't want to hear. "We have to extract some teeth". Not just minor teeth.. BOTH OF HER UPPER CANINES! :(

Such a bummer... I feel like a terrible cat mom.

An ode to the girls

Farewell to my girls
it is soon our last month living life to the "fullest"
I admire how you hang there together
keeping each other company
whilst separated by wires

It really is for the better
you will see
Perky as you should be
Proportioned as you ought to be

I will cherish our last month together, and of course the jokes we share. You are both SO funny.

I will not miss:

-the back pain
-my poor posture
-always having to wear a camisole
-struggling with sports bras
-spending triple digits to hold you up
-taking the attention away from my fine fine booty (it's fine, damn fine)

I look forward to:

-shopping for new clothes!

Gelato + Yarn = Love

Just got back a few days ago from a 2 week trip to Italy where I:

- ate my weight in gelato
- took nearly 400 photos
- swam with jellyfish (ack!)
- went to a club with a special guest DJ from G-Unit (odd)
- confirmed that I do not like wine no matter how hard I try
- walked past "Sawyer" from Lost
- mastered the art of taking my own photo
- bought yarn!

The yarn I bought was from the Campolmi Filati store. I bought 10 balls of "Tweed" (5 each of two different colours) , and a cone of a burgundy sparkly mohair blend that I plan to use for my first lace garment (once I take care of a few pesky UFOs that is).

And now for a sampling of PHOTOS!

The yarn.....

The sights....

too many pictures.... I'll make sure to put them in an online album and post that link here at a later date.

Ciao!

Uma... Oprah....?

Ellen.... Susan...?

It was the 79th Annual Academy Awards last night, and a few friends and I decided why not dress up as the stars, tape the night, and make the Oscars a little more watchable. Seriously, how long was the show last night? I am so very tired today.

I was Ellen... and.... I make a terrible blonde! Big thanks to Sandi for loaning me a wig. I love that I have friends who when I send out an emergency wig request email, can actually help me out.

My opening monologue went well, but I was cut-off by the actual show. Typical.

Other stars for the night included: Little Miss Sunshine, Rinko Kikuchi, Meryl Streep, and Kate Winslet... but here are some more shots of myself as Ellen, because let's be honest, this blog is all about ME! :)

Superstar

Remember the SNL Superstar sketch (and movie)?

Check this out:

(In case you're wondering, that's "Time of my Life" from Dirty Dancing fame)

The following is a photo essay from my recent Karaoke Birthday Bash (Aka Birthday-Oke). I turned 29 this past February 1st, and to celebrate we decided to hit up a local Toronto Pub for some Saturday night Karaoke.

Me and some of the gals, with a delicious cake made by LP.

A little G&T to start things off....

LP and I would never go breaking YOUR heart.

Amy is moved by the performance...

Amy and Diana are then moved to dance backup (we don't know that guy, fyi).

Our bartender decided to surprise me on stage.

Singing "One Way Or Another", and as they say on American Idol, "I really gave it my all"
